Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad(ABVP) - is a nationalist student organisation spread through all universities, is very much concerned with the issues confronting the educational field in general and higher education in particular. of late commercialisation has been the bane of higher education what with the universities also unabashedly treating education as a resource to over come their financial problems. At the same time the new and unhealthy craze for technical education, to be prices for B.E./B.Tech degrees has prompted the merchants of education to start new engg. colleges to make hay while the sun shines.

They have the support of the bureaucrats and politicians. As a result of that hundreds of engineering colleges have come up but most of them without proper facilities for their main aim is not to provide quality education but to make quick money.

In democracy it becomes the responsibility of the voluntary organisations to play the role of a watch dog or that of a deterrent force. As a student organisation interested in quality technical education to be given to our youth, ABVP has decided to conduct a survey of all engineering colleges in A.P. regarding their infrastructural facilities and faculty and grade them on that basis. Eminent professors, technocrats and academicians have prepared the format while young and brilliant students collected the data. The present final grading is the outcome of an analytical study of the data by experts. Hence it may be very accurate. We hope the student community would be benefited by perusing our survey report.

For the present survey we have used our organisational network.

First, we appealed to all Engg. colleges for their kind Co-operation in this regard and many colleges responded positively by providing the necessary information.

This data collection was followed by personal visits by our teams of activists to respective colleges. These teams had an interaction with the management, students and faculty members. Students from all cross-sections (According to their type of seat and branch) have filled up Questionnaires given to them.

While grading these Engg. Colleges we have considered all those norms set by AICTE.

1. Infrastructure : a) Building and Number of Class Rooms,

b) Laboratories,

c) Library,

d) Transport and other facilities

2. Faculty.

3. Sports, Cultural activities and other academic activities.

4. Placement and result (Applicable to Established colleges only).

5. Remarks by the students.

Based on the above points we have meticulously analysed the collected data to grade these colleges.

Note : Engineering colleges managed by JNTU, Osmania, Andhra & Sri Venkateshwara Universities along with Aeronautical engineering and Agricultural engineering colleges have not been included in this survey. Even the colleges of Architecture are not included.
